Have you ever tried rowing a boat upstream? If you have, you probably remember it being very difficult if not impossible to do so. In this passage of Scripture, we see Jesus testing His disciples to see if they were going with the flow or against it. Many people had differing ideas about who Jesus was and what He had come to do. Jesus wanted to know what they believed about Him. Pastor Phillip teaches us through this passage that Christ calls each of us to go against the mainstream beliefs about Jesus and embrace His claim of exclusivity – that He is the only way to God. Going against the flow might be uncomfortable or difficult but it’s worth it.
