In this passage, Pastor Phillip dives in to the controversy surrounding the instructions given by the counsel in Jerusalem to the church in Antioch – specifically how many people wrongly interpret this passage to mean Christian’s should keep the Law of Moses. While doing this, he provides a very practical and helpful way for us to understand how to interpret scripture for right belief. As we look at this passage and use the tools of correct interpretation, we understand that they are not being instructed to keep the Law of Moses, but simply to abstain from things that would hinder these Gentiles in having good relationships with their believing Jewish brothers and from their culture’s grotesque immorality.
