The Consolation of Israel

One term people shy away from is the term religion. Is religion bad or does it just have a bad connotation because of the empty nature of most people’s display of religion? What does the Bible say about it? In the book of Luke while reading the Christmas story in Chapter 2, we see the man Simeon who the Bible says was righteous and devout, looking for the Consolation of Israel. Pastor Phillip takes through a defense of the Biblical understanding of devout religion and how we should also be living a religious life. The latter part of Pastor Phillip’s message is focused on understanding Christ’s role as the Consolation of Israel and how that consolation is brought about in the work that Christ did at the cross.
