Where The Worm Does Not Die And The Fire Is Not Quenched: Hell 101 – Mark 9:42-50

Addressing an often neglected subject in the Church today, Pastor Phillip gives a lesson in Hell 101. Wanting to leave a deep impression upon the disciples, Jesus uses a historically and prophetically significant reference to “The valley of the son of Hinnom” or Gehenna. A place known for child sacrifice and refuse burning, Jesus uses Gehenna to plant in their minds a vivid picture of what hell is like and the consequences of allowing oneself to be absorbed in the things of the world rather than following Christ. This message is a call for us to abandon those things in our lives that distract us or hinder us from following Christ wholeheartedly.
